Emily Rubin (MS CCC-SLP) – alongside Barry Prizant, Ph. D., Amy Wetherby Ph.D., and Amy Laurent, co-creator/co-author of the SCERTS Model: http://www.SCERTS.com. She lectures internationally, has also served as an adjunct and lecturer at one of the most prestigious universities in the world – Yale University (Connecticut). Emily was an ad hoc member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASSM), whose tasks included, among others, developing guidelines regarding the role of speech-therapists in diagnosing/supporting students on the autism spectrum (ASD) in the United States. At present she is a Director of Communications at Crossroads Inc. (California). By education, Emily Rubin is a speech-therapist specializing in studying the relationship between overall human well-being, language development, socio-emotional engagement, and social theory of learning. Apart from the SCERTS Model, she is also co-creator of the SEE-KS method (SEE-KS: Social Emotional Engagement – Knowledge and Skills). Both approaches comply with general academic standards; they are particularly sensitive to the specific needs of students on the autism spectrum (ASD); they can serve as a universal learning model bringing long-term benefits to all students. Currently, her scientific work focuses on supporting local educational systems and building their internal capacity.
